About the event
droidcon Kenya, also written DroidconKE, is a mobile developer conference in Nairobi that belongs to the global droidcon family. Its site calls it the largest droidcon chapter in Sub-Saharan Africa. The 2026 edition is the seventh and runs for two days at the PrideInn Azure Hotel in Westlands. A flutterCon runs alongside it, and one ticket covers both conferences.
The organizers describe the format as developer days with Android and Kotlin sessions, hands-on labs, engineering leader panels and an unconference track, plus an exhibition area and networking. Topics named on the site include the Swift SDK for Android, AI agents, performance tuning and security, and the page also mentions Kotlin, Swift, React and Flutter stacks. The site reports more than 230 sessions delivered and over 3,000 attendees since 2018. Google is listed as a platinum sponsor for 2026.
The audience is mostly Android and cross-platform developers and engineering leaders from Kenya and the wider region. The official pages do not mention investor sessions, buyer meetings or matchmaking, so it works as a learning and community event. For app founders it is most useful for hiring, finding technical partners and understanding the African mobile developer market.
Who should attend
Android, Kotlin and Flutter developers and engineering leads in East Africa, and founders who want to hire there, find development partners or learn about the local mobile ecosystem. Attendees get sessions, labs, panels and an exhibition.
Tips: if you are preparing to sell an app or raise money, collect feedback on your product from local developers and users rather than expecting investor meetings. Bring a short technical summary of your app and a clear list of the roles you are hiring for.
