Best Marketplaces to Sell Subscription Apps: A Seller’s Guide
Choose a marketplace for your iOS or Android subscription app by buyer fit, total selling cost, diligence support, and transfer readiness.
The best marketplace for your subscription app is the one that fits the business, attracts relevant buyers, and provides the work you need at an acceptable total cost. A large audience, a low fee, and hands-on preparation are different advantages; none guarantees the best sale outcome.
This is Approck’s selection guide, not an independent ranking. We compare five options using official seller information checked on September 15, 2026. The fit judgments are ours.
A shortlist by seller need
| Marketplace | Consider it when | Check before listing |
|---|---|---|
| Approck | You want a sale process focused on subscription mobile apps. | The agreed fee, app fit, preparation scope, and transfer responsibilities. |
| Flippa | You want auction or classified options across a broad asset marketplace. | The package, privacy, support level, success fee, and payment charges. |
| Acquire.com | Your software business fits its startup/SaaS audience and support model. | App acceptance, monthly listing costs, and advisory-program eligibility. |
| Empire Flippers | You have an established business suited to a broker process. | Profit/history requirements, minimum commission, and mobile-app fit. |
| TrustMRR | You can connect a supported provider and prepare the remaining app diligence. | Provider coverage, each party’s fees, and the technical transfer plan. |
For fee details and worked examples, use the comparisons with Flippa, Acquire.com, Empire Flippers, and TrustMRR.
Match the process to your situation
One app, clean financials, time to handle inquiries
Compare listing format and total cost first. You may be able to manage buyer questions yourself. Ask how buyers are screened, when identifying information becomes visible, and whether you can control the timetable. Prepare a clear data room so a lower-service option does not create avoidable delays.
Complex subscription history or a shared portfolio
Prioritize preparation. Buyers need to understand renewals, refunds, recent acquisition spend, and which backend costs belong to each app. Ask who will explain the figures and resolve discrepancies. A portfolio with shared services needs a plan for what transfers together and what must be separated.
You need a confidential sale or have limited time
Compare the actual mandate: public versus private distribution, access to the app identity, who responds to buyers, and who manages negotiations. Ask for clear responsibilities and reporting. Do not equate a marketplace’s brand with a commitment to do every part of the sale.
Five questions to ask every platform
- Will you accept this specific app? Share the platform, category, operating history, revenue model, and expected deal size before preparing a full submission.
- What will I pay? Request a written estimate for both a completed sale and a listing that does not sell, including renewals and payment costs.
- Who checks the numbers? Separate gross revenue, store proceeds, subscription metrics, and profit. Provide operating and acquisition costs for the same period.
- Who does the handover? Assign ownership of code, backend, domains, analytics, subscription infrastructure, and acceptance checks.
- What happens if the deal stalls? Discuss exclusivity, withdrawal, buyer introductions, timelines, and unresolved diligence questions before signing.
Check the app transfer before promising a sale date
For an iOS app, check Apple’s current App Transfer process and eligibility against the actual app and its capabilities. A marketplace agreement does not override store requirements. Inventory dependencies early so the buyer understands what can transfer and what needs separate work.
Use our due diligence checklist and valuation guide to prepare the evidence. Then estimate your app’s value or discuss a sale with Approck. For platform-specific shortlists, see Flippa alternatives and Acquire.com alternatives.

Sell Your AppFrequently asked questions
Which marketplace is best for a small subscription app?
Compare actual acceptance criteria and total fees at your expected sale price. Minimum commissions and paid listing terms matter more at smaller sizes; the support you need matters too.
Should I choose the platform with the lowest success fee?
Compare the total cost and work included. A lower fee can be appropriate when you can prepare the sale and handle the process yourself.
Does this guide rank platforms by verified sales performance?
No. It is an Approck-authored comparison of published terms and seller fit, not a ranking based on comparable conversion or completed-sale data.
